SUPER cute!

I’m NEVER gonna get sick of that view. EVER.

So, I’m getting updated on everything that is changing inside of the Music Business by some tech-savvy guys, networking, stuff like that. Loads of new, interesting stuff, and i wish you guys were here. I’m in the Roosevelt Hotel down in Hollywood right now, having a great time (the place is fancy too, I had no idea). Anyways, the discussion now is on the Digital Distribution Models, but the scariest thing I’ve heard so far today is that there was only 22 Platinum albums in USA in 2009 (only 0.02% of ALL released albums!!). How many there would be, if people actually didn’t rip it off the internet? even though it might sounds fun to just get tracks for free, after all - it’s our work. Kind of uncool to steal it, we have bills too. And also, I like to buy the album, you know, it’s like personal way to say to the artist: I LIKE YOU. Imagine coming up to whoever your favorite artist is, and being able to say: I love you, I love your work, I appreciate it. Seriously, that’s what buying an album does, particularly for independent artist.

So anyways, there is a huge discussion on the subscription services, which apparently are the future. I love the idea industry wise, it’s smart, clean, easy, not economically challenging (seriously, if you have the internet access you CAN afford to pay $10 a month to listen to WHATEVER you’d like), and very accessible. On the other hand, I don’t think I would personally use that, I still like to hold the vinyl, CD, go through the booklet, see the pictures… Music in the past was much more of the experience. Every album would take a piece of my heart, more or less, and a small space on my shelf. I’ll always like to listen to CDs or Vinyls from the player, than I’ll enjoy MP3s, although it might be a bit harder to carry around the vinyl player + a bunch of records, than an iPod.

by the way, if not for an iPod, i would be screwed, there’s no freakin way i could ever have 700 CDs with me in LA. I would need a separate container to fly the damn thing here. We never appreciated Steve Jobs for what he did for us.

Anyways, i’m coming back to listening to the discussion on how New Technology is changing the way we intearact with and consume music. After all, thanks to subscription services, the future can look fairly bright.

Fantastic Portraits of Farm Animals

“I take the conventions from the fashion world and apply them to the underclass barnyard animal,” Rob MacInnis told The New York Times.
